The Apex Jaycees 50th Annual Apex
Christmas Parade will be held Saturday December 1, NOTE: Please click here to download the vendor/float form.
Thank you for your interest and participation in the Apex Jaycees 50th Annual Apex Christmas Parade. The Apex Jaycees have provided their community with a joyous celebration of the holidays for the last 49 years. We need and appreciate your support of our efforts in continuing this tradition. However, in order to provide you and the community with a safe event, we have instituted the following rules and regulations for each group participating in this year’s parade to follow. The contact person for each group will be responsible for providing these rules to its members prior to the parade. Adherence to these rules and regulations is mandatory.

**Throwing candy is prohibited, handing out candy is permitted** 1. Line-up for the parade will be on Apex Peakway starting at the intersection of Apex Peakway and Salem Street.
2. All participants shall commence arriving at the parade line-up location at 3:00 p.m. Any participant not present and in line at 4:30 p.m. will not be permitted to participate. Those participants riding on floats or in the BANDS must be in line at 4:00 p.m.
3. Participants are to line-up according to the system set forth in the schedule provided approximately one week prior to the parade. The contact person for each group shall be responsible for informing the individual participants of the location of their group in the Parade line-up.
4. Parents transporting children to the Parade line-up location for participation in the parade shall access Apex Peakway via Highway 55 and travel to Salem Street. Apex Peakway will be closed at 3:00 p.m, except for vehicles participating in the parade. There will be no exceptions.
5. No vehicles will be permitted to travel on Apex Peakway from Salem Street.
6. Parents and other individuals may wish to park temporarily on the street in the nearby neighborhood to drop off their children or other participants in the parade. After transporting the participants to the parade line-up site, the vehicles will need to be removed and parked in another location.
7. Prior to the commencement of the parade, all buses or other vehicles transporting BANDS to the line-up shall be moved to the Apex Public Works site on Upchurch Street.
8. Participants in the parade will not consume alcohol prior to or during the parade. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted to be transported through the parade route.
9. Any organization or group will limit the number of vehicles in their showcase to three. If you are creating your own float, two of the vehicles permitted will include the truck and the float apparatus.
10. For those individuals showcasing vehicles only, the vehicles are required to be at least 25 years old.
11. In order to prevent injury, no one will be permitted to throw candy. Anyone caught throwing candy will be subject to a fine from the Apex Police Department. Handing out candy will be permitted.
12. In order to maintain a clean environment in the downtown area, participants are NOT allowed to disperse any pamphlet or other documentation to the audience at the parade site. If a group or organization is handing out literature of any kind, they will be required to provide people to clean the sidewalks and streets after the parade or be billed by the town for clean up.
13. Horses will not be permitted in the parade UNLESS attached to a wagon or other apparatus.
14. Participants will not pass the group ahead of them prior to or during the parade. Participants must stay in the positions that they were placed.
15. Participants shall follow the group ahead of them in a swift manner.
16. All BANDS and other PERFORMING GROUPS will be limited to four (4) special performances, drills, or routines not to exceed two and one-half (2 ½) minutes each.
17. ALL PARTICIPANTS shall continue along the parade route down Salem Street and Moore Street and NOT disperse until they reach the Apex Public Works site on Upchurch Street. NO ONE will exit a float until it comes to a complete stop on Upchurch Street. Police officers will be posted on Moore Street as for the participants’ safety. After completing the parade route, everyone may travel back to the parade route to watch the remainder of the parade.
18. Once ALL band members have reached the conclusion of the parade route, the band shall not participate in any playing of instruments or engage in the performance of drills or routines.
19. Those individuals riding on floats shall not move around the edges of the float while it is in motion. Children under the age of eight shall be seated on the float and accompanied by an adult on the float.
20. Float riders shall not unload from the float until it stops at the Apex Public Works site.
